Welcome to the Tauplitzalm – the sunny Styrian lakeside high plateau at a height of 1,600 m! Your host Herbert is an original member of the local community of motorbiking hotel owners and, just like his wife Susanne, a passionate biker. Accompanying him on one of his guided tours means discovering the most well-hidden areas around the Tauplitzalm. He always likes going straight ahead on the Nockalm.
The mountain pasture adventure starts as soon as you arrive at the Hierzegger motorbike hotel: the journey takes you at a gentle pace over the 10 km Tauplitzalm alpine road. A true pleasure with 8 hairpin bends and unique views of the glaciated Dachstein and the Grimming. Your destination is the cosy hotel with top motorbiking competence, a wonderful alpine pasture wellness area for the hours off the road and traditional, genuine Styrian kitchen. Tours are planned and stories exchanged with like-minded people over a beer in the garage or on the sun terrace. Tours into the Mariazeller Land, over the Nock Mountains, around the Dachstein or to the famous Salzkammergut lakes are on the menu of alpine pastures.

Breathtaking passes, day trips through national parks or half-day tours along the beautiful lake landscape of the Salzkammergut, countless bends and impressive mountains: motorcyclists will find exactly what they’re looking for in the Ausseerland-Salzkammergut. Right on the doorstep of the Hierzegger you’ll find the Tauplitzalm, the Loser, Lake Hallstatt and the public magnet of Hallstatt. Gesäuse, Sölk Pass and the Postalm are equally worthwhile excursion destinations.
The toll charge for the Tauplitz alpine road is included for pre-registrations and direct bookings.

As a founding member of a motorbike hotel cooperation, I am of course a passionate biker. Not to mention an ‘old hand’ both in the business and on a motorbike. That's why I've only had two bikes in my free time for as long as I can remember (which I swap for two skis in winter).
As befits a decent biker from Austria, I am - as they say - a ‘die-hard’ KTM fan. I wouldn't swap my 1290 Adventure for any other bike at the moment. Even my wife Susi, a very experienced pillion rider, says that nothing else will fit in our garage. Then it will certainly fit!
Of course, I prefer travelling with our guests in my home territory, around the Salzkammergut and in Styria. Unless everyone has packed enough time and stamina, the tour can sometimes go as far as the upper Adriatic: from the Alps to the sea.
On our own holidays, we - my Susi, the KTM and I - also like to travel to more distant climes for a change of scenery. Our holiday destinations so far have been Greece, Sardinia, Bosnia, Croatia and the Czech Republic. Let's see what's still to come.
