A labyrinth of low-traffic mountain roads can be found in the mountains between Nassfeld and the lowlands. Once arrived at the southern edge of the Friulian Dolomites, you can even see the Adriatic Sea across the lowlands on a clear day.
The Dolomite Road and the Canal del Ferro lead in direction Julian Alps (northeast of Udine) and then you cross the Val Canale in Slovenia. In the north, the Val Canale, with its steep faces and picturesque villages, is especially impressive and is the main route to Austria. In Friuli, wild curvy roads, little traffic and a beautiful landscape can be combined with insights into authentic northern Italian life.
