Even the journey over the 10 km and 8 hairpin bends of the Tauplitzalm Alpine Road is a real experience. For more than two decades, as a biker host on the Tauplitzalm, I have stood for motorbike passion, hospitality and personal tour guiding. This makes me an "old hand" in the truest sense of the word - on two wheels as well as in the hotel business. My wife Susi and I live motorcycling with every fibre of our being: from local routes through the Ausseerland-Salzkammergut to long-distance trips to Sardinia, Croatia or Greece.
But my favourite place to be is on my home turf: around the lakes of the Salzkammergut, over the Sölk Pass or into the Mariazell region. My 1290 KTM Adventure is the perfect bike for this - and we often make plans for the next trip over a garage beer on the sun terrace. Alpine wellness, honest Styrian cuisine and a real biker feeling make the Hierzegger a home base that will immediately grow on you.
