To the south and east of these, Kočevje, Kozjansko and Posavje showcase a quieter side of the country with forest roads, rolling hills and small villages. The Vršič Pass rises to 1,611 metres and has 50 hairpin bends; weather, roadworks and seasonal traffic restrictions can affect road conditions.
