Passion that connects
The Hotel Sonnleiten is much more than just accommodation - it is the meeting point for motorcyclists in the Zillertal who love bends, cuisine and community in equal measure. Walter, a motorbike virtuoso with experience of the Erzberg, knows the region like the back of his hand and will accompany you to the most beautiful panoramic routes. Melanie, a tour guide with heart and soul, personally takes care of precise route planning on her guided tours - because a joy shared is a joy doubled.
After the tour, you can relax in the wellness area with panoramic sauna - and a view of the Zillertal mountains. Or you can enjoy Walters' cuisine with Tyrolean specialities. At the regulars' table, experiences are shared over a garage beer - and tours are planned. And as the name suggests: here you are at home on the Sonnleiten, i.e. on the sunny side of the Zillertal.
Satisfaction
Motorbike expertise
Whether it's the Erzberg or the "Romaniacs", my territory is "off road". Instead, my wife Melanie is "on the road", travelling alone and with guests. So it's no surprise that we both got to know each other while riding our motorbikes. A joy shared is a joy doubled.
Your host
Petrol is in our family's blood, so even as a little boy I dreamed of riding a motorbike. At the age of 8, I was finally allowed to do my first laps on my father's Honda Monkey and from then on - much to the chagrin of the neighbours - I rode my first 80cc Kawasaki around the neighbourhood.
At 16, I got my small motorbike licence, first a Malagutti RSV and then a 450cc Yamaha FZ, which took me all the way to Lake Garda. Despite a few excursions to road motorbikes, I finally returned to my roots - off-road riding. Since then, I've been passionate about enduro racing: by taking part in the Red Bull Romaniacs in 2014, I fulfilled a big off-road dream.
Together with my wife Melanie - a qualified tour guide by the way - we personally guide our guests to the most beautiful corners, winding mountain roads and insider tips in the Zillertal. Of course, we do this on our beloved KTM bikes: the KTM Super-DUKE 990 and KTM EXC 300. Melanie also had her first unforgettable motorbike experiences with her father on the gravel roads of the Tux forests. No sooner said than done, at 18 she had her motorbike licence in her pocket and a Suzuki Bandit 600 at her side. Today, the KTM 1090 is her faithful companion on tours through the Zillertal Alps.
