We cycle through orchards and vineyards on the SS12 to Trento. From here we follow the signs to Riva del Garda. On the way we pass Lake Toblino. The castle of the same name, which stands on a small promontory in the lake, makes a great photo opportunity. We soon reach Riva del Garda via Ponte Arche and Fiavè.

This is where the actual Garda tour begins. The Gardesana Occidentale runs along the western shore of the lake. It is the "rougher" section of our tour around the lake with many tunnels. Nevertheless, we always have breathtaking views of Lake Garda. Limone, which is primarily known for its lemon cultivation and olive oil production, is certainly the most famous town on the western shore. At Desenzano we have reached the southern end of Lake Garda.

The town of Sirmione, which lies on a peninsula in the lake, is well worth a detour. The Gardesana Orientale, the so-called "Olive Riviera", which runs along the eastern shore of the lake, begins at Peschiera del Garda. We pass several picturesque towns such as Garda and Malcesine and reach Torbole after 60 kilometres.

Through the beautiful Sarca Valley, which is also known as the "Valley of the Lakes", we reach Lake Toblino again and cycle back to Kurtinig along the familiar route past Vezzano.

In the summer months, it is advisable to start early as there can be delays due to the higher volume of traffic, especially on the Gardesana Orientale.
