Lake Garda Tour
This wonderful motorbike tour to Lake Garda combines the tranquil South Tyrolean mountain charm with the Mediterranean flair of the south.
We start in Natz , bixen from where we ride the route anti-clockwise. First we steer the bike to Bolzano, where we take the Mebo, leaving it at the first exit to Appiano and jetting towards Appiano. Now we cycle around the long bends up to the Mendel Pass and pass the villages of Cavareno, Romeno and can make a detour to the monastery of San Romedio just before Sanzeno. If you are less enthusiastic about monastery culture, perhaps the live bears in the enclosure next door will be more to your liking...
The rest of the route leads past Lago di Santa Giustina southwards towards Cressino, Cavedago, Andalo and as far as Lago di Bior and Lago di Molveno, where you can enjoy lolling in the sun in fine weather. The route continues to San Lorenzo in Banale, Bleggio inferiore, Ballino, past Lago di Tenno, which shines in an extravagant blue colour, and finally the last long bends past Tenno to Riva del Garda and the shores of Lake Garda.
Here you can switch off the bike for a while and sit on a bench by the lake with one of the many flavours of ice cream to choose from and watch the surfers go about their business. For those who have worked up an appetite from biking, there are countless cosy restaurants serving Mediterranean cuisine. As Lake Garda has been one of the favourite destinations for German-speaking connoisseurs for years, it is inevitable that some of the customs of northern food culture have crept in... So no biker's wish remains unfulfilled!
Even if it's difficult - at some point we have to make our way home again and get back in the saddle. Now it's off to Torbole and then northwards to Arco and onto the popular tarmac route from Pietramurata to Lago di Santa Massenza. If you still have an appetite here, there is a very classy and dignified castle restaurant on the lakeshore...
The route continues to Vezzano, Cadine and Trento, where we rush northwards towards Lavis. Further waypoints are Giovo, Lisignago, Cembra, Grumes, Stramentizzo, Cavalese and finally the ride over the Passo di Lavaze. We then return to Karneid via the Eggental valley and shortly afterwards back to the starting point in Brixen - Natz.
