The Three Peaks are probably the most striking and best-known mountain range in the Dolomites. Thanks to their unmistakable shape, the three peaks, all of which scratch the 3,000-metre mark, are considered a landmark of the Sesto Dolomites in Alta Pusteria - and an absolute highlight of a motorcycling holiday in the 3 Peaks - Plan de Corones - Valle Isarco region in South Tyrol. Equally unique is the Dolomite glow (Ladin: Enrosadira) - the spectacular sunsets during which the Pale Mountains are bathed in reddish light.
The landmark of the Dolomites
The Tre Cime di Lavaredo, as the 3 Peaks are called in Italian, and the nature park of the same name were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2009 together with the other Dolomite peaks. If you want to experience the unique formation up close on a motorbike holiday in the 3 Peaks - Plan de Corones - Valle Isarco region, take the toll road directly to the foot of the three striking peaks. Insider tip at the entrance to the Pustertal Valley: the road from Mühlbach past Meransen to Weitental is a low-traffic, but winding alternative to the main road through the Pustertal Valley. The 3 Peaks - Kronplatz - Eisack Valley region offers endless winding Alpine and pass roads. Tour highlights and legends such as the Gardena Pass, the Sella Pass, the Würzjoch, the Falzarego Pass or the Marmolada are on the agenda here. Or even a detour to Lake Garda.
