MOHO - Hotel Monte Giner - Lake Idro

We start at the Hotel Monte Giner and leave the first metres of altitude behind us until we reach the Passo di Tonale at 1,884 metres. As soon as we see it, we realise that this is a classic winter sports resort. The ski season lasts well into spring, supported by several cable cars that take sports enthusiasts up to the imposing Presanelle mountain group. The pass road winds its way down, through dense forests, tight hairpin bends and elegant curves, until we rejoin the main road, which takes us in a wide arc past the village of Ponte di Legno - itself seemingly out of the way, almost like a silent observer of the road rushing past. Shortly afterwards, we reach the Passo di Croce Domini at 1,892 metres. The ascent from Breno is steep, with a whole 1,400 metre difference in altitude ahead of us. If you have been to Bagolino before, you will recognise the entrance to the Val di Caffaro here. The more adventurous can take a detour south of Lago d'Idro and ride over seven kilometres of gravel road to the Passo di Maniva - but the real destination remains Croce Domini. Before we reach it, we pass Lago d'Idro, which is already in Lombardy. The water is at a pleasant temperature and invites you to take a refreshing dip at around 25 degrees in summer. From Storo, the road winds its way through the Valle d'Ampola, a narrow gorge full of beautiful bends. A last look back shows the adventurous road layout, where the narrow strip of tarmac runs almost as if glued to the rocks. Shortly after the descent from Riva del Garda, we reach Lago di Ledro. The route continues winding towards Tione, past Madonna di Campiglio and Dimaro, until we finally arrive back at the starting point, the Hotel Monte Giner. The round trip leaves impressions of breathtaking heights, idyllic lakes and exciting mountain passes - an unforgettable experience for every cycling enthusiast.
