Sonnleiten 3: Achensee - Hinterriss - Scharnitzpass loop

Hotel Sonnleiten, Bruck am Ziller → Achensee → Sylvensteinsee → Hinterriss / Eng (toll) → Vorderriss → Wallgau (toll, day ticket) → Mittenwald → Scharnitzpass (955 m) → Zirlerberg (1,057 m) → main road or A12 motorway → Hotel Sonnleiten, Bruck am Ziller

Brief description

Panoramic tour with flowing bends and alpine flair. From Hotel Sonnleiten, the route heads out of the valley along Lake Achensee towards Germany. Via the Sylvenstein reservoir we reach the Risstal valley and on to Hinterriss / Eng - one of the most beautiful places in Tyrol (toll).

Continue via Vorderriss and the Wallgau toll road (day ticket, also valid for Jachenau) to Mittenwald. On the Austrian side, head back to the Zillertal via Scharnitzpass and Zirlerberg towards the main road or the A12 motorway.
