The winding heart of the Dolomites
Route:
Hotel Teutschhaus - Cavalese - Moena - Canazei - Fedaiasee - Fedaiapass (2056m) - Giaupass (2236m) - Cortina d'Ampezzo - Tre-Croci-Pass (1809m) - Misurinasee (1757m) - Cortina d'Ampezzo - Falzarego Pass (2192m) - Valparola Pass (2199m) - Corvara - Gardena Pass (2121m) - Sella Pass (2240m) - Canazei - Moena - Cavalese - Hotel Teutschhaus
We cycle through the Fiemme Valley to Cavalese and via Moena, the largest village in the Fassa Valley, to Canazei. Now we start the ascent to the Fedaia Pass. Lake Fedaia awaits us at the top, framed by huge mountains. The route descends into the valley in some very steep hairpin bends and then the technically demanding ascent to the Giau Pass begins immediately afterwards. The panorama here is one of the most beautiful in the Alps.
Over the ramp of the Falzarego Pass we reach Cortina d'Ampezzo - a renowned winter and mountain sports centre. After a short ride through the town, the Tre Croci Pass is already waiting for us. After 6 kilometres we reach Lake Misurina, in which the Dolomites are reflected. The route around the 3221 metre high Monte Cristallo is comparatively easy to ride.
At Cortina d'Ampezzo we now climb the Falzarego Pass. At the summit of the Falzarego Pass, the ascent to the Valparola Pass branches off, which we reach after a few hundred metres. The steep descent leads down to Corvara and then up to the Gardena and Sella Passes with breathtaking views of the Sassolungo and the Sella massif. We return to the Hotel Teutschhaus through the Fassa and Fiemme valleys.
