Start......... Alpenhotel Laurin, this time our tour takes us to all three parts of Tyrol. Immediately after the hotel driveway we turn right onto the Timmelsjoch road, after approx. 2 km we reach the TopMountainMotorcycleMuseum (the highest motorbike museum in Europe, with a unique motorbike collection of over 200 exhibits - but we will visit this another time) ...the distance from the hotel is so close that today, due to the slightly longer tour, we immediately set off in the direction of the TImmelsjoch pass summit. (Timmelsjoch pass road

- (Timmelsjoch pass road, toll road) The first-class road, which almost rhythmically hugs the natural terrain, may tempt you to drive fast, but keep an eye out for cows or sheep/goats along the entire route, as they graze here throughout the summer. Once we reach the top of the pass (after about 15 minutes), we first enjoy the phenomenal view of the Stubai Alps and the Texel Group. Our onward journey takes us over the south ramp of the Timmelsjoch to St. Leonhard in the Passeier Valley. On the south side of the Timmelsjoch, please be aware of parked cars on the roadside or cyclists, so keep your speed down and enjoy the scenery. The road has been greatly improved in recent years, and the bends and hairpin bends are sensational fun. Once we arrive in St. Leonhard, we head towards the centre of the village at the first roundabout and then immediately head uphill towards the Jaufenpass. The pass road to the Jaufenpass is a little narrower and the bends are sometimes less rhythmic, but this improves with increasing altitude and the road becomes more "open" again from the tree line onwards. After reaching the top of the pass, we are rewarded with a sensational view. Right at the highest point of the pass there is also the opportunity to enjoy a really good espresso. (Panoramahütte Jaufenpass) Our tour continues down to Sterzing and from there along the SS 12 road to Franzensfeste. Immediately after the town, we reach the entrance to the Pustertal Valley (E 66) ...here we continue along the road to Olang.

Excursion destination Pragser Wildsee: ... a recommended detour from here is to continue for approx. 5.5 km to the junction SP 47 - Pragser Wildsee

At Olang we head north on the SP 44 (Antholz state road) to the end of the valley and then up to the Staller Sattel (please note: the road from the south is always open from min. 30 to min. 45). We reach the Defereggen Valley (back in Austria) via the saddle. After reaching Huben in East Tyrol, we turn north onto the Felbertauern road (toll road). We reach the tunnel entrance (toll booth on the south side) via a very comfortable mountain road which then leads into the tunnel. The descent to Mittersill in Salzburger Land is also excellently developed, but requires maximum concentration in the event of rain as the well-developed road is occasionally "abused" by cars for speeding. From Mittersill we head westwards to the border with Salzburg. We drive past the Krimml waterfalls over the Gerlos Pass (toll road) into the Zillertal. The beautifully developed mountain road offers us a marvellous view, the descent into the Zillertal is moderately demanding, once we arrive in Zell am Ziller we drive out of the valley to Schlitters and continue on the country road (not into the Brettfall tunnel) to Straß in the Zillertal.

We can end our tour for today with our colleagues at the Hotel Sonnleiten (MoHo hotel partner). (From Straß we drive eastwards on the L 218 - we join the B 171 here and immediately after the bridge over the Ziller we take a sharp right to Bruck am Ziller - Hotel Sonnleiten, family Koidl)

Day 2: Excursion day

Start..... Hotel Sonnleiten, Bruck am Ziller; today's tour takes us through the Inn Valley westwards to Wattens. (Swarovski Crystal Worlds - a world of experience designed by Andre Heller on behalf of Swarovski) Our route continues via Hall i. Tirol to Innsbruck. (worthwhile stop, visit to the old town...) The journey continues via Völs to Kematen, where we turn left into the Sellraintal valley. A wonderful mountain road opens up to Kühtai. From Kühtai down into the Ötztal valley to Oetz, the road is a little more winding and you have to be prepared for the odd hairpin bend. The final ascent over the Ötztal valley to Sölden is a series of climbs on the very well-maintained B 186 - once in Sölden, we turn right at the end of the town and take the glacier road (toll road) up to the Rettenbach and Tiefenbachferner glaciers. From the toll booth (above the tree line), an imposing glacier world with sensational views opens up to us ... a short stop in one of the upper hairpin bends to enjoy the view is always worthwhile. We reach the glacier restaurant after about 20 minutes' drive (distance from Sölden). It is also possible to drive through the tunnel below the glacier to the south side of the Tiefenbachferner. The impressive glacier world and the viewpoints offer us a sensational view of the Ötztal mountains. The journey home to Alpenhotel Laurin in Hochgurgl will take approx. 30 minutes. Please bear in mind the special load on the braking system when descending from the pass.
