Hotel-Gasthof Strasswirt
Motorbike hotel in Jenig
50% Carinthian cosiness + 50% Italian temperament = 100% motorbike passion on a motorbike holiday at the Strasswirt. Because the hosts Sandra & Christoph - an Italian and a Carinthian - are a dream team with heart & home advantage in the Alpe-Adria region of Carinthia-Italy-Slovenia. The boss of the traditional inn is a chef with heart and soul, as is the next generation - here the emphasis is on products from the region. It's nice to know where it comes from - and where it's going!

Pleasure tours through three countries
Fancy a cappuccino by the sea? From the Gailtal Valley and the Carnic Alps, you can be on the Adriatic Sea in no time at all. On a motorbike holiday at Gasthof Strasswirt, your tours start right outside the front door after a hearty breakfast - through the Nassfeld-Hermagor-Pressegger See region and on to South Tyrol, Italy and Slovenia. With personal tips for enjoyable breaks and winding side roads, you can relax and go country hopping - via the Carnic Dolomites Road, the Grossglockner High Alpine Road or the Vrsic Pass.
After motorcycling through three countries, you can meet up in the cosy restaurant by the warm tiled stove, for expert discussions at the bar or for deep relaxation in the small wellness area. When the chef himself serves up dinner in the à la carte restaurant, the Alpine-Mediterranean flavours continue unabated.
Satisfaction
Motorbike expertise
Motorised two-wheelers have always played a role since my youth. The biggest, however, was when I met my wife Sandra on one of the many motorbike trips to Italy! Now we welcome our biker guests together.
Your host
At the age of 13, I used my hard-earned pocket money to buy my first means of transport that worked without muscle power: a Puch-MAXI (for all non-Austrians: a legendary and very widespread "motorbike"). The "MAXI" went through thick and thin with me. Later, when I was 16, I bought a DS 50 (year of manufacture 1971), also from Puch and even more legendary.
Finally grown up and equipped with the appropriate driving licence, I always had a roadworthy motorbike in the garage from then on. I regularly rode it to the Adriatic and to neighbouring Italy to eat spaghetti (and many other things that the "Dolce Vita" had to offer). The upper Adriatic was and is not far from the Gailtal, so a cappuccino is absolutely sufficient reason for a trip to the sea. But the numerous passes in Friuli and the Soca Valley in nearby Slovenia were also among my favourite routes back then. So it's no surprise that I met my wife Sandra on one of my trips to Italy.
Unfortunately, after a skiing accident, I can no longer pursue my former passion. So the regular petrol talks with my guests often make me think back to this wonderful time, albeit with nostalgia. But: once a biker - always a biker! That's why I still know the most beautiful and exciting tours in and around Carinthia very well and am always on hand to help our biker guests with advice, action and insider tips. And now I have to step on the gas in the hotel and in the kitchen. :-)
