Rovereto-Levico Tour

Route:

Hotel Teutschhaus - Trento - Rovereto - Fugazze Pass (1162m) - Xomo Pass (1056) - Posina - Arsiero - Passo Coe/Passo di Valbona - Folgaria - Levico Terme - Pergine Valsugana - Trento - Hotel Teutschhaus

We take the SS12 to Trento. Before we reach the actual centre, we turn right towards Rovereto. The tangent leads us past the outskirts of Trento. The motorway ends at Mattarello and we continue along the SS12 to Rovereto. It is the second largest town in Trentino and lies at the heart of the Adige Valley. Be sure to wander through the old town centre with its Venetian-style alleyways and palaces. At the 3rd roundabout after the railway station, turn left and follow the SS46 up to the Fugazze Pass (1162 m). This is a popular meeting point for bikers, especially at weekends.

After 3 kilometres, we turn left to the Xomo Pass (1056 m). A winding road leads through dense forest to Posina and on to Arsiero. Here we take the road up to Tonezza del Cimone. The journey over the "double pack" of Passo di Valbona (1,782 m) and Passo Coe (1,608 m) is extremely varied in terms of scenery. On both sides of the route we are rewarded with magnificent views and glimpses of a fascinating mountain world.

At Folgaria, the road leads us up the Sommo Pass (1343 m) in several bends. At Carbonare we turn left. The descent ends in Caldonazzo. The holiday resort of Levico Terme lies between the beautifully situated Lake Caldonazzo and Lake Levico. It is also home to the thermal baths with arsenic-iron springs, which are unique in Italy.

We make a short stop before travelling through the Valsugana Valley to Trento and back to the Hotel Teutschhaus via the SS12.
