Even the Romans used the Tauern Pass and Katschberg to cross the Alps - the milestones along the roads are still silent witnesses to this day.
But there is also plenty of adrenaline away from history: the legendary Nockalm Road winds its way through the Carinthian Nockberge Mountains with 34 kilometres and 52 hairpin bends and is a must for any motorbike tour through Austria. Thanks to its central location, tours are open to you in all directions - from the Sölk Pass to the Grossglockner to the Salzburg lakes or the Gesäuse in Styria.
